What is a skin peel?

A skin peel, also described as a chemical peel, is a treatment in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove the outer layers of skin cells. The goal of a skin peel is to improve the appearance and texture of the skin by reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, and other skin imperfections.

There are many different types of chemical peels that can vary in strength and depth of penetration, depending on your specific needs. Some peels are mild and require little or no downtime, while others can be deeper and require several days of recovery.

We offer a variety of peels including: GlycoAla, Retinol and TCA peels

It's important to note that chemical peels should only be performed by an experienced healthcare professional, as they can have potential side effects and risks if not done properly.

What is GlycoAla?

GlycoAla is a revolutionary new treatment using the power of light activation to treat the visible signs of ageing skin. Based on technology known as Photo-Dynamic Therapy (PDT) and used in dermatological conditions; GlycoAla is a revolutionary light-activated gel that is now available to reduce and prevent the signs of ageing skin and treat acne. GlycoAla consists of a specific nanoparticle formulation called glycospheres, combined with hyaluronic acid which allows the product to remain stable and is delivered into the skin.
GlycoAla is the world’s first light-activated cosmetic gel to have this nanoparticle glycosphere technology – and produce results at a cost effective and relatively low risk procedure.

What does it treat?

This revolutionary treatment is an excellent treatment for the following conditions:
• Acne
• Reduction in pore size
• Produce a softer, plumper skin texture and increased firmness
• Reduction of oiliness of the skin
• Produce a more radiant skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and sun damage
• Areas that can be treated face/neck, chest, back and hands

How is the GlycoAla treatment performed?

The treatment takes about 90 minutes, the skin is cleaned and the GlycoAla is applied to the skin and left for 40 minutes while you relax in a darken room to allow the skin to absorb the gel. The GlycoAla is removed and it is then activated by using light. During this period you may occasionally feel a tingling sensation when the light activates the gel. After the treatment, you will need to use a SPF cream and a moisturizer as recommended to ensure you get the desired results.

A series of 3 treatments is recommended, 4-6 weeks apart for the best results. The amount of peeling experienced is determined by the state of the skin before the treatment. We will discuss the pros and any contraindications and precautions you should consider before undergoing this treatment with you.

After the Retinol Peel, is applied, you may feel a slight tingling. It is left on for 4-8 hours, depending on the sensitivity of your skin. You can leave the clinic once we are happy with the treatment. After the recommended time, you can wash your skin thoroughly to remove the Retinol Peel.
